Film Title Design & Sequence: Rear Window (1954)
The movie that i chose is Rear Window - A popular and classic 50’s movie, starring James Stewart as Jeffry.
Jeffry is a photographer recovering from a broke leg and has to stay confined in his wheelchair at his apartment. Out of boredom, he spies on his neighbours and suspected and suspected a murder.
The mood of the film title sequence is dark, suspenseful and a feeling full of mysterious and anticipation. It portrays Jeffries’ body language - how he sits, lurks and move.
Fitzroy in a Nutshell
Fitzroy is famous for it's never-ending cafes, vintage shops, rooftop bars and art. Whilst filming this cinematography, i have also explored and acknowledged the indigenous history and perspective of the place.
Melbourne from my Kulin Perspective
The Wurundjeri-Willam people of the Kulin nation are traditional owners of the land. Yarra river is known as “Birrarung river” which means “a river of mists and shadows”. The river is their major source of food and meeting place where they gather with other clans.
But by the time i knew that their unceded land, their HOME was invaded by the Europeans, my perspective had changed - I became more fond and grew so much more respect of the place and surroundings.
